COSLEE HEAVY METAL FABRICATORS PTY LTD commenced operations in October 1998, deriving its key personnel originally from the highly reputed HU-METAL ENGINEERING, whose primary business over 35 years was concerned with the provision of technical and consulting services as well as fabrication in the associated pole and pipe industries.

Hu-metal undertook over 20,000 tonnes of pipe and pole fabrication designated for major powerline systems within Australia – including some at Port Headland, Argyle, Beenup and numerous other places requiring poles and fixtures.

Additionally, undertakings entailed the construction of steel tunnel supports for Melbourne Underground Rail Loop Authority and the Citylink tunnel, sewer distributions for Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works, some significant work with Western Link and Transfield Obayashi Joint Venture, and, from a more global perspective, the export of product and technology to South East Asia (in tandem with licensing contracts and dynamic joint ventures within the region).

All of this work involved steel fabrication – both with and without traceability requirements. To further optimise production efficiencies, the business developed and refined its own computerised materials and job tracking system.

Recently, Coslee was successful in winning the supply contract for over 4500 lighting and shared pathway poles for the M7 Project in Sydney – following similar success with several other infrastructure projects including Geelong Road, Craigieburn Bypass, Pakenham Bypass, Brunswick Heads Bypass, Bonville Upgrade and the Melbourne Eastlink Project.
