 Slip Base (Frangible) Freeway Poles
An innovation in industrial design, this type of special purpose Street Lighting Pole addresses the universal problem of high-speed road accidents (over 60km/h) involving roadside collisions with freeway poles. Due to the optimal safety applications in their use, these poles need to be designed, evaluated and certified by the relevant authorities to meet Australian Standards specifications (AS/NZS 1158.1.3).
Slip Base Poles differ in design which features the two base plates bolted together with the facility of freely coming apart if a crash occurs. This separation lessens resistance and mitigates the overall effects of the impact (any subsequent damage to the vehicle or injury to its occupants).
Applications
Because Slip Base Poles are intended to dislodge and fall during an accident, their use is restricted to those areas where the likelihood of a resultant secondary incident is reasonably low and passing vehicles or pedestrians are not likely to be implicated.

- The slip base pole is available in either tapered octagonal or tapered round depending on the relevant state road authorities specifications.
- The slip base pole range is standard base plate mounted with either in-ground section or connection spool on rag bolts to meet each state road authorities requirement.
- The slip base pole is also available as a mid hinge type.
- Bolts, Slip Washer and Rectangular washers are available in kit form.
- All poles are hot dip galvanized to AS/NZS 4680:2006, and can be powder coated or painted to your requirements.
- The slip base pole range is available in standard heights according to relevant state road authorities specifications, however other heights, section sizes can be custom designed to meet specific requirements.
- The slip base pole range is available in a single and double outreach arm arrangement, curved or straight.
- Security or tamper proof screws for access door covers.
- Slip joint assembly required for poles over 11metres in height.
